On and Off the Trail: Art Exhibit Reception
March 16, 2019 –
Join us for a reception to celebrate as Schenectady scientist turned artist, Caroline Bardwell, releases her first book of original poetry and black and white photography inspired by Capital District landscapes. The book showcases the beauty of our local environment in all seasons and uses the combination of words and images to offer the audience a deeper connection with "place-based art" itself. The exhibition will feature the photographs in their original color format, paired with excerpts of related poems. Caroline will perform selected pieces during the reception.

"My photography focuses on the inherent beauty of natural settings. As a Schenectady native, I have a great appreciation for the diverse heritage of the Capital District and enjoy showcasing those details
through the use of imagery and words. I believe that if people are intentionally shown the richness that their local environment possesses, it can influence their presumptions about an area, start to break down barriers, and help to unify through common connection. As a poet, I understand that words have power
and that using those words to convey beauty and depth can evoke a strong response."
