Kayak Through History

For centuries, local history has revolved around the mighty Mohawk River. Join us on this Schenectady kayak tour, as we paddle from the modern Mohawk Harbor to the site of our city’s ancient port. Along the route, our expert guide will regale you with the history of the area. Guests will be provided with a kayak, life vest, and paddle. Guests should be prepared to paddle for about two hours. There are no bathrooms at either site. Due to safety restrictions, you may not bring your own kayak. Workshop: Introduction to Broom Making

Schenectady was once world-renowned for crafting practical, artful brooms. In this workshop at the Mabee Farm, you will learn these skills for yourself. Expert broom artisan Robin Ziegler will lead us in making three simple broom projects: A Turkey Wing Broom, a cake tester and a pot scrubber. These personalized, hand-made crafts are useful around the home and make excellent gifts! We’ll provide all the materials. You provide the enthusiasm!
