SUMMARY:Yoga with Little Ones
DESCRIPTION:Come learn yoga through play! Instructor Kerrie McGovern will lead us as we explore various movements\, identify body parts\, and strengthen fine and gross motor skills through yoga\, storytelling\, and games. This will take place in the Dutch Barn.  This program is geared towards little ones ages 2-4 years old\, but all are welcome! Participants are invited to stay afterwards for our Mabee Farm Planting Day at no extra charge. \nFree for SCHS members / $10 per family

DESCRIPTION:The growing season has begun and we need your help! Guests will learn how generations of Mabees could feed themselves as we plant our rye\, corn and veggies. We’ll go from seed to table as we grind our own flour and bake our own bread. \nAdmission is free for Family+ members of SCHS\, otherwise $10 per family. \nParents/caregivers must remain with their child for the duration of the program. DESCRIPTION:For our next virtual America250 Book Club\, we are reading Occupied America: British Military Rule and the Experience of Revolution by Donald F. Johnson. Instead of covering military or political decisions\, this book explores a lesser-discussed side of the war: the psychological impact of military occupation on the average colonial citizen and how that affected the outcome of the revolution. We will read about how each major American city reacted to occupation and how people used these times as opportunities for both personal advancement and patriotic fervor. \nThis program is only open to members of SCHS. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a colonial-era walking tour that takes us back to a land you may know but a world that’s unrecognizable. In 1661\, Schenectady was founded at the frontier of the colonial world and sat at the crossroads of many competing empires. This tiny town was caught in a delicate balance as various European and Native American powers jostled for control of this area. In this tour we’ll explore the earliest years of our city’s history leading up to the disastrous night in 1690 when it was utterly destroyed. Come see how our city’s story began! \nAfter the tour\, stick around for a complimentary glass of wine at the SCHS Museum. \nThis tour meets and concludes at SCHS\, 32 Washington Ave\, Schenectady. SUMMARY:A Society of Friends: A Tour of the Quaker Meeting House
DESCRIPTION:In a quiet corner of Schenectady county\, the hamlet of Quaker Street holds a unique story. There sits a simple structure\, raised in 1807 by the Religious Society of Friends. This “Quaker” Meeting house tells a story of peace\, integrity and community more than two centuries in the making. In this program\, we have the rare opportunity to explore this nationally registered historic place. We’ll learn its history from the stewards who keep its legacy today.  \nThe Quaker Meeting House is located at 10226 Duanesburg Rd\, Delanson\, NY 12053. The tour lasts about an hour. There are no bathrooms on site so please plan accordingly!

SUMMARY:"A Turning of the Tide:" Immersive Theatre at Mabee Farm
DESCRIPTION:In this immersive\, site-specific theatre event\, audiences step into the Capital Region on the eve of the Battle of Saratoga. Throughout Mabee Farm\, the audience will encounter the American Revolution as it unfolds from multiple\, often unheard perspectives. Women navigating their role in the war. Immigrants and Black Americans confront a fragile promise of freedom. Hessian mercenaries\, far from home\, find their way through the wilderness. Shakers preach a radical gospel of pacifism. And British soldiers face the realities of war. In this production\, the audience does not simply observe the past; they walk through it\, experiencing the human cost\, moral complexity\, and emotional urgency of the moments that shaped the nation. \nThis program is part of SCHS America250 initiative\, and is presented in partnership with Siena University and NorthEast Theatre Ensemble. \nPerformances are May 22-24 and May 29-31 at Mabee Farm Historic Site. \nFull Schedule: \nFriday May 22 at 7pm\nSaturday May 23 7pm\nSunday May 24 at 2pm \nFriday May 29 7pm\nSaturday May 30 7pm\nSunday May 31 at 2pm \n*All ticket sales are final*
