Our collections contain many swords, firearms, and powder horns from bygone eras, all prized possessions of previous inhabitants of our region. These weapons could be tools to cause harm, but are also undoubtedly beautiful works of craftsmanship in their own right. This program will showcase several of the most remarkable pieces as we recall the stories of how they might have been used in some of the most dramatic and dangerous episodes in our local history. Participants will be able to touch and hold some of the objects discussed during this program, and get a feel for what life on the frontier, farm, or battlefield was like in the 1700s and 1800s.
This program is designed for children and adults 10+, but younger siblings are of course welcome!
Free for SCHS Family+ members (RSVP required), otherwise $10 for everyone 10+.
